Show 816 – Second Chance Ministries

For a lot of children, learning to fish or hunt with Dad is a right of passage. For children who don’t have a father figure in their lives — whatever the reason may be — there’s Second Chance Ministries, created by Boyd Deal of Ariton. The ministry’s hunting and fishing trips are funded through sales of the book, “My Struggle, His Glory,” which was also compiled by Deal.

Losing a body part or suffering a stroke is a completely life changing experience. The staff at Alabama Artificial Limb & Orthopedic Service (AALOS) work to restore hope for patients who have to learn to live in a new way.

Certain places are intrinsically tied to farm commodities. You hear Vidalia, and you think onions. Here in Alabama, Chilton County is synonymous with peaches. And for tomatoes, no Alabama city is more famous than Slocomb. What makes these sweet summer gems so special? Find out from John Aplin of Aplin Farms.

Plus, we have another Alabama Smart Yards, thanks to Alabama Cooperative Extension System! Mallory Kelley and Mike Forester show you a quick and easy way to create a 4 foot by 8 foot raised bed garden.

This casserole includes everyone’s favorite parts of breakfast — tater tots, bacon and, of course, eggs! Stacey Little of SouthernBite.com shows you how to make this super simple, people-pleasing breakfast.
