This year, the state of Alabama turns 200, and the folks of the Alabama Brewers Guild wanted to help celebrate. Knowing beer best, they’ve been brewing special recipes to represent all five of Alabama’s territorial and state capitals.

The cotton gin has come a long way since the days of Eli Whitney. His original invention could remove the cotton seeds from 50 pounds of cotton fiber every day. One of Alabama’s newest gins – Cherokee Gin Co. – processes more than 25,000 pounds of cotton hourly!
