Show 903 – Wildlife Nursery

Plant nurseries are the place to go for trees, shrubs and flowers that beautify your home landscape, but there’s a special nursery in Macon County that takes things up a notch. Located between Tuskegee and Auburn, the Wildlife Group specializes in plants that will attract wildlife to your land.

Come for coffee and get cat-feinated at Gatos and Beans. One of the first of its kind in Alabama, this Birmingham establishment serves up cups of coffee while patrons enjoy playing with adoptable kittens and cats.

You may drive past your county’s Extension office on a regular basis, but you may not know all the educational programs that Extension offers. To learn more about everything Extension, enjoy this interview with their new Director of Communications, Strategic Marketing and Client Relations Mike Clardy.

And Extension continues bringing their educational content to Simply Southern with a Farm & Outdoors segment about the proper way to prune crepe myrtles.

A sheet cake is the perfect quick and easy dessert. This one could even be called somewhat healthy because it features apples and pecans! See how fast this Apple Dapple Sheet Cake from Southern Bite comes together. Thanks to Priester’s Pecans for sponsoring this segment.

I have been making that apple dapple sheet cake for 55 years and my mom made it also. Someone handed it down to my mom. One awesome cake. Everyone loves it when I make it
