Show 822 – Prattville Gin Mill

The Pratt Gin Co. in downtown Prattville was one the largest manufacturer in the world. While it’s been vacant for some time now, restoration efforts on five buildings started in earnest earlier this year. That includes the folks at Old House Specialists coming in and restoring as many historic windows as possible.

The Leather & Lace MC brings together women who are motorcycle enthusiasts in central and south Alabama. But their sisterhood is about a whole lot more than just enjoying the open road. It’s also about helping those in their communities and hosting special rides as fundraisers, including the Whispering Thunder Run to benefit Magic Moments.

While it may surprise you, farmers really are tech savvy. They use smartphones, computers and other gadgets every day to keep their farms sustainable. Watch Autauga Farming Co.’s Drew Wendland discuss more about how he uses technology on his family’s farm in a special Down to Earth – Agriculture Sustains Alabama-inspired Ask A Farmer.

Plus, we have another Alabama Smart Yards, thanks to Alabama Cooperative Extension System! Nelson Wynn tells you everything you need to know about composting yard waste at home.
