Show 725 – Bama’s Best Chicken Tenders

Y’all helped us determine four worthy contenders for our Bama’s Best Chicken Tenders contest earlier this year, sponsored by the Alabama Farmers Federation’s Poultry Division. In the end, Bobby’s Restaurant in Eva had the most to crow about after judges decided they served up the best tenders.

Other finalists included Crowe’s Chicken in Brundidge, The Chicken Shack in Luverne and J’s Hole in the Wall in Bryant. Click here to read more about the contest.

It’s been said that behind every great man there’s a great woman. As the Alabama Farmers Federation continues to celebrate its centennial year, we reflect on the contributions of those great women who have been members of the group’s Women’s Leadership Committee, including Faye Dial of Clay County and Betty Barrett of Elmore County.

You’ve asked questions about honeybees, and Mobile County beekeeper Troy Latham has your answers. Here, he covers:

  • What do bees eat and should I feed them, or do they get what they need from Mother Nature?
  • Do beekeepers put out water for bees in the summer?
  • How far must a hive be moved in order to be relocated?
  • Why does smoke calm bees?
  • How do you introduce bees to a colony, and do they fight?
  • What is the natural lifespan of a bee?

This quick and easy jambalaya is the perfect meal to make on a weeknight after a busy day. Southern Bite‘s Stacey Little shares all the steps for his Weeknight Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya. And thanks to the Alabama Poultry & Egg Association for making this segment possible.
