Bobby’s Restaurant In Eva Claims Title Of Bama’s Best Chicken Tenders

Congratulations to Bobby’s Restaurant in Eva for winning the title of Bama’s Chicken Tenders!

Bobby’s Restaurant and its owners John and April Hall have claimed bragging rights, a plaque and a cash prize. As winner, they will also be featured in Neighbors magazine and right here on a future episode of “Simply Southern TV.” Click here to learn more about the contest.

Thankfully, I was not one of the judges this go-round. In fact, I had an even better job — travel with the judges to shoot video while also getting to taste-test without the pressure of making a decision. That’s really the sweet spot to be in for these contests!

The competition was fierce. Each of the Flavorful Four served up fantastic tenders paired with yummy sauces. And it was obvious that all four of the owners and their families were extremely dedicated to serving the community through their restaurants. If you want to meet some humble folks who cook up some incredible chicken, I encourage you make your own trek across the state, judging each of the finalists to find your favorite!

Keep scrolling to get more info on each of our Flavorful Four finalists and my suggestions on what you should try.

Bobby’s Restaurant

Bobby’s Restaurant in Eva won Bama’s Best Chicken Tenders contest, sponsored by the Alabama Farmers Federation’s Poultry Division. Judges visited the restaurant July 15. From left are Tami Culver, Department of Agriculture & Industries; owners John and April Hall; Poultry Division Director Russ Durrance; and Simply Southern TV Reporter Melissa Bowman.

Location: 4082 Eva Rd., Eva, AL

What I’d order on my return trip: The chicken tenders basket with the homemade chicken sauce and Texas toast is a surefire winner, but I’m gonna have to try the chicken tenders with gravy next time.

The Chicken Shack

The Chicken Shack in Luverne, owned by brothers Michael and Drew Money, is a finalist in the Bama’s Best Chicken Tenders contest, sponsored by the Alabama Farmers Federation’s Poultry Division. Judges visited the restaurant July 14.

Location: 665 S. Forest Ave., Luverne, AL

What I’d order on my return trip: Grilled tenders. There aren’t many places where you can get a grilled tender, and these were supremely good!

Crowe’s Chicken

Crowe’s Chicken in Brundidge is a finalist in the Bama’s Best Chicken Tenders contest, sponsored by the Alabama Farmers Federation’s Poultry Division. Judges visited the restaurant July 14.

Location: 334 N. Main St., Brundidge, AL

What I’d order on my return trip: The chicken tender basket with Crowe’s sauce. The sauce has a sweetness to it, and it pairs perfectly with the tenders.

J’s Hole In The Wall

J’s Hole in the Wall in Bryant is a finalist in the Bama’s Best Chicken Tenders contest, sponsored by the Alabama Farmers Federation’s Poultry Division. Judges visited the restaurant July 15. From left are owners Aaron and Cynthia Williams; Poultry Division Director Russ Durrance; Tami Culver, Alabama Department of Agriculture & Industries; and Simply Southern TV Reporter Melissa Bowman.

Location: 5080 Alabama Highway 73, Bryant, AL

What I’d order on my return trip: The boom boom chicken tender basket, which we somehow ended up calling Honey Ka-Chow tenders after we drove away. A little tip of the hat from Lightning McQueen to these tasty tenders!

A huge thank you to these four amazing restaurants. Your food and your hospitality will be remembered.

Thanks also to our contest sponsors – the Alabama Farmers Federation Poultry Division. Those folks are the ones responsible for raising lean, healthy protein that we all got to enjoy at our Flavorful Four restaurants.
