Show 716 – Flavors of the Black Belt

You can sample all the Flavors of the Black Belt thanks to nine new trails developed by Alabama Black Belt Adventures. Along with great local food, the trails booklet also lists places to stay and adventures you can have along the way. Our stops included Touch of Home Bakery and Lakewood in Livingston, Connecting with Birds and Nature Tours in Newbern and The Stable in Greensboro.

In his lifetime, Dr. William Henry Burritt didn’t mind standing out from the crowd. His legacy in the city of Huntsville continues on even after he passed away. Thanks to his gracious donation, folks reconnect with the past as they explore history and nature around his former home at Burritt on the Mountain.

Whether you call them feral swine or wild hogs, these critters cause billions of dollars in agricultural damage every year. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is doing everything it can to help farmers control the population of feral hogs with the hope of minimizing damages to crops, timberland and pastures.
