Each year, three farm families between 18 and 35 years-old who are competing for tens of thousands of dollars in prizes as they vie for the title of Alabama’s Outstanding Young Farm Family.

Watch this segment to learn about the Alabama Farmers Federation’s 2025 Outstanding Young Farm Family – The Wendlands from Autauga County. Many farmers will tell you that diversity is important to success. Itโs kind of an insurance policy against challenges that vary from year to year, like regulations, markets and the weather. This yearโs diverse, winning farm family raises cattle, cotton, corn, sesame seeds and oats northwest of Montgomery.
If you thought the prizes for the other two families were nice, get a load of what the Wendlands are taking home to Autauga County. All combined, itโs worth more than $80,000! First of all, they’ll receive a $40,000 check they can use toward the purchase of anew Ford vehicle, courtesy of the Alabama Farmers Federation and Alfa Insurance. Plus, Alabama Farm Credit and Alabama Ag Credit are providing a new John Deere Gator, and the Wendlands will get a lease on a John Deere tractor from John Deere, SunSouth and Trigreen.
