Three years ago, the U.S. Census of Agriculture showed Alabama has 37,362 farms. That indicates more than 3,00 fewer farms than there were in the previous census in 2017. A hundred years ago, there were around 182, 000 farms in the state and the number has declined since then. That means as the world’s population continues to grow, it’s up to fewer and fewer people to grow all the food, clothing and shelter that we all need to survive.
