Alyx Johnson has forgotten more about pigs than most of us will ever know. After 15 years of showing hogs at livestock show, she has literally written the book on swine health. If that doesn’t impress you, keep in mind that Alyx is only a senior in high school but she has BIG plans to make an impact on the livestock industry!

When you think of a blacksmith you might think of a big man hammering away on an anvil. But, it’s a little more complicated than that as we learn at the Lookout Mountain School of Horseshoeing.

Farm life is the American dream. But high costs, including exorbitant health premiums, could prohibit farmers from handing down the land to the next generation. To learn more about these harsh realities on the farm, we head to Clay County, in east central Alabama, to visit the Upchurch family.
