Show 1010 – Side by Side Choir

Caring for a loved one with a memory loss diagnosis is tough. That’s why three faith groups in Montgomery joined together to form Respite Ministry — to give rest for caregivers while providing fun and engaging activities for those suffering from memory loss. One of those activities is singing in the Side by Side Choir. Research shows early Alzheimers and dementia doesn’t affect the part of the brain that remembers music. While we may not understand why, we can appreciate the fact it allows the Side by Side Choir to make such a joyful noise.

Cheerleaders are usually on the sidelines pumping up a crowd of spectators who are there to watch another sport. But in competitive cheer, the cheerleaders themselves hear the applause for every perfect stunt, formation and tumbling pass. In cheerleading, precision matters. Move over potatoes and pasta — there’s a new salad in town! Stacey Little of Southern Bite is sharing his recipe for Carrot Cranberry Salad. It’s tangy and tart thanks to dried cranberries and crushed pineapple, plus toasted pecans add a nice nutty flavor. If you haven’t sampled a carrot salad before, this is definitely one a great one to try.
