Show 1106 – Seed Swap

How does your garden grow? For those who attended the Seedy Saturday event hosted by EAT South in Montgomery, their gardens will soon be filled with plants grown from seeds they received for free! The annual seed swap is a major draw for gardeners in and around the River Region.

We’ve been hinting at it for a while now, and we are thrilled to finally announce our big surprise for Season 11. Legendary broadcaster Fred Hunter is joining our crew as a recurring reporter. Listen to the interview to hear what you can expect as this veteran storyteller brings his skills to Simply Southern. You can also learn more about Fred by visiting Fred Hunter’s Alabama.

This Rural Roundup of agricultural news includes:

A simple chocolate chip cookie because a Southern specialty when you add in Priester’s Pecans. Stacey Little of Southern Bite shows how easy it is to make his Chocolate Chip Pecan Cookies. Plus, he explains the science behind chilling cookie dough before baking. It’s not a requirement, but it will produce a different result. Thanks to Priester’s Pecans for making this segment possible!
